Top Ten
The first ten amendments to our constitution were all established as rights for citizens of the US that could not be taken away. This list of rights was fitfully named the Bill of Rights.
1. The first amendment established the freedoms of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition.
2. The second amendment establishes the right for all citizens to bear fire arms (keep guns).
3. The third amendment established that citizens had the right to refuse housing of troops in their homes.
4. The fourth amendment established that you could not be unreasonably searched or seized without a warrant.
5. The fifth amendment established many things including criminal proceedings, due process, and eminent domain.
6. The sixth amendment gives people the right to jury in criminal cases.
7. The seventh amendment gives people the right to jury in most civil cases.
8. The eighth amendment protects us from cruel and unusual punishment and excessive bail.
9. The ninth amendment allows citizens to assume rights that are not stated in the constitution belong to them anyway.
